"Teachers who love teaching teach children to love learning"
Hi I'm Marisa!
My name is Marisa, and I am the Head Teacher and Manager at Honeybees.
I am from New Zealand, and half Croatian. I married my husband in Venice a few years ago, after taking him to see Croatia for the first time. Since then we have been busy building our new house, and now we’re getting a delicious fresh vege garden underway!
I have a Bachelor of Education in Primary Teaching and Early Childhood, both from the University of Auckland. I have been teaching in Reggio inspired preschools for 15 years, and was even lucky enough to attend a conference and study tour in Reggio Emilia, Italy which was an amazing experience!
Being artistic and imaginative I love everything to do with the world of art! I have fun getting hands on with the children, promoting creativity and self-expression. I am also passionate about creating exciting learning environments which spark the childrens imagination and curiosity.
I feel so grateful to have been part of the Honeybees adventure from the beginning, helping to make every little detail as good as it possibly can be!
Hi I'm Narina!
My name is Narina, and I am the Assistant Head Teacher at Honeybees.
I am from Wellington and have only recently started calling Auckland home. Previously I lived in London for 5 years, where I made the most of every opportunity to travel and experience new things. I then completed my adventure by marrying my high school sweetheart in rural France!
I hold a conjoint Bachelor of Teaching and Arts in Early Childhood Education and have been working with preschool children for 10 years now. It always amazes me how I continue to learn something new from them every day!
I am passionate about providing a learning environment that caters for all areas of a childs holistic development, and so I love how Honeybees feels like a home away from home for all our children and their families.
I’m thankful to be a part of the Honeybees team, and hope my input enhances this wonderful team of teachers and the vitally important work they do each day!
Hi I'm Ashley!
My name is Ashley, and I am a Teacher at Honeybees.
I originally completed a Bachelor of Education in Primary teaching and spent several years with slightly older children, before I realised that the little ones truly had my heart!
I have also attained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, and am now studying towards my Early Childhood qualification. I love to keep busy and learning, and often come across information and research that I apply – I am passionate about becoming the very best teacher I can be.
My partner is a burly fireman and we are expecting a baby girl soon, can't wait for the new addition to our family!! We also have a little puppy dog, he is super cute but loves to get into mischief at every opportunity….!
I believe it is extremely important to keep myself healthy from the inside out, by keeping active and fit and with clean eating. I’m so proud of our Honeybees menu which is full of nutritious whole foods and so yummy for the children too!
Hi I'm Kim!
My name is Kim and I am a Qualified Teacher at Honeybees.
My partner and I have recently braved the crazy Auckland property market and purchased our first home. I'm a very creative person so its exciting to start choosing paint colours and get decorating!
Prior to starting my teaching career in New Zealand, I spent almost five years teaching English in Vietnam and Japan, which inspired me to want to make a difference in the lives of our little people!
I recently completed my Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education, but some of you may have known me for a while as I have been a part of the Honeybees family since 2014.
You will often find me guiding the children during arts and crafts, with pencils stuck in my hair or sculpting clay up to my elbows - I love how they engage so deeply in every moment and show so much joy in their discoveries!
Hi I'm Lin!
My name is Lin, and I am a Qualified Teacher at Honeybees.
Being originally from China I speak Mandarin and Cantonese as well as English. It gives me great joy to be able to communicate with our Chinese parents so they can fully understand how their children are growing and shining at Honeybees!
I hold a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education, and also have 4 years of teaching experience in New Zealand.
I have also just purchased my first home. I love keeping busy and having a goal to aspire to, so my weekends will be filled with DIY projects - I've never done anything like this before but luckily my Kiwi friends have all got lots of advice for me!
At Honeybees you'll often find me singing and dancing with the children, I love music and encouraging everyone to get involved builds confidence and makes every day a happy day!
Hi I'm Kal!
My name is Kal, and I am the Chef at Honeybees.
I started off studying business and attained a Bachelor of Commerce specialising in Operations Management, before I realised my true calling was actually with food, perhaps it was watching all those episodes of Masterchef....!
I am passionate about children's developing bodies being nourished with healthy unprocessed food so the Honeybees philosophy is a perfect match with my own. I personally hand pick every ingredient that goes in the pot, and fresh fruit and vegetables form the basis of every meal we create.
Having a little boy of my own, Kieren, has reinforced this even more for me, and I'm finding it so rewarding watching him grow into himself. At the moment he's discovering his love of dancing which he tries out at every opportunity!
I love that Honeybees is family owned and it really does feel like home to me!
Hi I'm Marandi!
My name is Marandi and I am a Teacher at Honeybees.
I am originally from South Africa, where I completed my Bachelor of Education and worked as a teacher for 5 years. My husband and I recently made the big move to New Zealand and we absolutely love everything this beautiful country has to offer!
In our spare time we have started up a new online and wholesale business selling beard oil and used Maori brand names - it is such an engaging and vibrant culture!
My passion for teaching has grown since starting at Honeybees and I love working in a Reggio inspired preschool. I am excited to learn more about the child-led project based approach and using this to inspire our children.
Music is one of my biggest passions, and I believe it is a language that brings everyone together. I have lots of songs that I love to share with the children and sometimes I bring out my guitar for some extra fun!
Hi I'm SoHee!
My name is SoHee and I am a Qualified Teacher at Honeybees.
I am originally from South Korea and coming to New Zealand was a great adventure! I have lived here for a few years and although I am proud of my heritage, this is now where I am very happy to call home.
I initially studied teaching in Korea and taught children there for several years, which was very special and started me on my teaching journey.
I found the curriculum in New Zealand inspiring as it is based on play and it sparked my dream to become qualified here also, so I worked towards my Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood Education. I am grateful that Honeybees has given me the opportunity to do what I love every day!
Being a very active person, I enjoy trying many different sports, so you will often find me on the outdoor playground. Its amazing that we can be outside with the children all year round, introducing them to new games and having lots of fun!
Hi I'm Merel!
My name is Merel, and I am the Office Manager at Honeybees.
I am originally from Belgium, and came to New Zealand with my Kiwi boyfriend, who I met while playing rugby. I was a member of the Belgium Women’s National rugby team, so of course rugby mad NZ feels like the natural place for me to end up!
Health and fitness are very important to me and chasing the children round the playground is a great way to instil in them a love of movement, which will hold them in good stead for the rest of their lives.
In Belgium I completed a Bachelor of Socio-educational Care, and actually started off at Honeybees as a teacher, but I am such an efficient and organised person that running the office (while still being in easy reach for cuddles!) is a natural fit for me.
I also speak Dutch, and French, Spanish and German as well as English, so I enjoy sharing different languages with the children, and love to chat with our European parents for extra practice!
Hi I'm Suzanne!
My name is Suzanne and I am the Office Administrator at Honeybees.
I started my career in retail management and then moved into accountancy and office administration, where I realised just how much I love being a tidy kiwi and having everything in proper order!
I was originally a big part of setting up Honeybees in the beginning, but after welcoming our beautiful daughter Quinn into the world I decided to focus all of my energy on being a new mum for a while. I am very family orientated and I believe it is important for children to have a sense of belonging, which is why Honeybees is such a perfect fit.
I'm also mad about my two cats, Dori and George, who give me no end of trouble with their neighbourhood shenanigans!
I now work part time from home, but I am always looking forward to my weekly visits to Honeybees. It brings such a smile to my face to hear what exciting things have been happening and of course, to see the children!
Hi I'm Natalija!
My husband Jason and I are the Owners of Honeybees.
Our little boy Marc is at school now, but still loves coming back to play with all his friends at Honeybees! He was our inspiration to set up the centre as when we were looking for childcare we couldn’t find anything else perfect enough for him. We have hand picked the team very carefully, and they really are the most wonderfully caring, qualified and responsible people you could imagine.
If you ever have any feedback on our service, I would absolutely love to hear all about it as we want to keep getting better and better every day.
Come in and visit anytime – we’re very much looking forward to meeting you, and hope you will become part of our Honeybees family!
